Living with dementia: Social relational perspective to sustainable care
We examine:
what it means to live with dementia,
what kind of social and institutional barriers and risks of care poverty are faced by persons with dementia and their family carers, and
how their participation and agency should best be supported on the level of daily life, social participation and care services.
Project description
The aim of the project
We develop a social relational model of dementia that takes into account not only the individual perspectives but also the social and relational aspects. Finally, the empirical research involving people with dementia and their family carers and developing the theoretical model enable gaining profound understanding on how to organize and promote socially sustainable care and services for persons living with dementia in national care policies and local care provision.
